About Us

Back in the late 1960s, a group of enthusiastic University of Hong Kong graduates in British Columbia began to espouse the idea of establishing an Alumni Association to bring the alumni here together. The Interim Committee was set up in 1969 and started the long planning and foundation work for its final establishment. In September, 1970, Alumni Association of the University of Hong Kong, British Columbia was incorporated under the Societies Act of British Columbia.

We currently have over 100 members. Our oldest member is from the Class of 1954 and our youngest, Class of 2017.

For decades, we had introduced social, cultural and intellectual activities for our members and had maintained exchanges with other university alumni associations.

We also established Endowment Fund and Awards for SFU students and UBC students in 1993 and 2010 respectively. The idea was to promote understanding of the culture of the Pacific Rim with local students. The awards are given annually to those who either undertake internships/work placement in Hong Kong, or undergraduates joining Exchange Program at HKU.

Meanwhile, we also take care of exchange students from HKU by being a partner of the HKU Mentorship Program, where we match alumni here to give guidance to the said students. This Mentorship Program has been well received so far.

The Association is looking forward to more participation from fellow alumni. We also like to see more efforts in community involvement whenever possible.
